Jack Wilshere ready to quit Arsenal

2 months ago  Raphael   Sport News

Jack Wilshere is ready to leave Arsenal at the end of the season if they do not significantly improve their latest contract offer, reports The Sun.

The 26-year-old’s current deal is due to expire in the summer but Arsenal are in talks to secure the midfielder’s long-term future.

Arsene Wenger’s side want Wilshere to stay but will only hand him new terms if he agrees to take a 25 per cent pay-cut on his current £120,000-a-week wage.

Wilshere has put his injury woes behind him this season and has recently seen the club shell out huge contracts for Mesut Ozil, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The England international’s preference is to stay at Arsenal but the midfielder is willing to walk away from the club where he has been since he was nine if he does not receive a better offer.

Wilshere has made 15 Premier League appearances for Arsenal this season, which represents his best return in a single-campaign for the club since 2013/14 (24 appearances).

The Arsenal No.10, who is currently free to discuss pre-contract terms with foreign sides, has previously been linked with a move to Italy but will not be short of suitors in the Premier League if he can remain injury free for the rest of the season.

Interestingly, Arsenal have a far superior win rate in the Premier League this season when Wilshere has been out of the starting XI (55.6%) compared to when he has featured from the off (33.3%).
