Having traveled to South America in the hope of contributing to Colombia's World Cup qualifiers this week, James Rodriguez will now fly back to Madrid due to his calf injury.
Los Cafeteros' medical team have been unable to cure the attacking midfielder in time for their crunch match with Uruguay on Tuesday and his recovery will now be continued in Spain.
In the coming hours, Rodriguez will return to his club with a week of recovery already scheduled in at BioBarica's hyperbaric chamber as four days remain of his 10 day treatment which will see the method work its magic.
The chamber used in the Spanish capital is the same make of the one that's treated James so far and Real Madrid's match with Real Betis next weekend is a realistic prospect for the player.
While a blow for Colombia, who are in a real fight to secure World Cup qualification, Real can be pleased to have control over a man who will likely be needed to fill the boots of Luka Modric or Casemiro in the coming weeks.
