The sense of crisis at Valencia will continue as sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitarch has resigned leaving Jose Ramon Alesanco in charge of Los Che's January business.
Cesare Prandelli's departure during the winter break did little to settle the club down and events off the field continue to hinder things with much of the supporters' ire aimed at Peter Lim.
Pitarch tended his resignation on Saturday just one day after his comments that a deal for Simone Zaza was nearing completion, it is at this point unclear whether this transfer will still go ahead.
Alesanco will take on the job on an interim basis whilst juggling his responsibilities as the director of the club's academy as was made clear in an official club statement.
"His immediate tasks will be to continue with the work planned in the current winter transfer market as well as working on everything related to the first-team in coordination with the coach, Voro Gonzalez," he explained.
