Antonio Cabrini, a legend at Juventus, has come out with his take on the Cristiano Ronaldo-Lionel Messi debate, arguing that the Portuguese forward's leadership qualities tip the balance in his favour.
Cristiano joined the Bianconeri last year from Real Madrid and, in his debut season at the club, he scored 28 goals in 43 games.
"My personal opinion is that Cristiano Ronaldo is better than Messi, but mainly in terms of leadership," Cabrini said at an event held at the Allianz Stadium. "Cristiano has proven to be a true leader on many occasions, and not just on the pitch. "He is a leader in his life, as well as in sports."
Messi has often been criticised about his failure to get over the line in key finals, particularly with Argentina, and this came into Cabrini's decision-making process.
"With due respect to Messi, there have been some cases in his career where he's fallen short," he added. "That being said, we're talking about two great players - I think we can all agree on that."
