That would mean the midfielder would essentially continue as a one club man, since he arrived at Los Rojiblancos at age eight to join their academy and he'd be 32 years old by the time his new contract ends.
The 150 million euro release clause is the biggest in Atletico history, a signal of how intent they are to keeping one of their most iconic players.
"Atletico are the club of my life and it is an honour to be here," Koke said of the new deal.
On Wednesday at 18:15 CET, president Enrique Cerezo will speak at the official presentation, an event honouring the player's commitment to the club.
