Late Quagliarella penalty hammers nail into Inter's Champions League dreams

Inter's last lingering hopes of qualifying for next season's Champions League took a hammer blow on Monday night as Fabio Quagliarella buried an 85th minute penalty to hand Sampdoria a 2-1 win at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
It had only taken 10 minutes for Danilo D'Ambrosio to put the Nerazzurri in front and yet the home fans were rocked by Patrik Schick's far-post tap-in that levelled the scores early in the second period.
Compounding the nervy atmosphere, Inter gave away a late spot-kick which Quagliarella unceremoniously hammered into the roof of the net for his eighth of the campaign to push Sampdoria further into the top-half, leaving the Biscione sixth and nine points from third-placed Napoli.
