Real Madrid make the short hop to Leganes on Wednesday night for their first league meeting at Estadio Butarque, an occasion that the Pepineros players are feeling confident about.
One man who knows exactly how much the side just south of the capital have progressed is Martin Mantovani, having signed in 2013 with the team in their then natural home of Segunda B.
"This is a great league and we're enjoying it," the club captain told MARCA. "With a few signings we've enriched the squad, we're in games a lot more, we're more aggressive and that shows.
"People can think that Real have to beat Leganes, but we saw it when we played at the Camp Nou, we were on the verge of taking a point. That reinforced the team and was a turning point.
"We face the game knowing that it will be complicated but, although they have the best players, it does not mean that we cannot beat them. The key is not feeling inferior."
Another to get his first real crack at senior football via Leganes is Alberto Martin, and the midfielder is realistic about the hosts' chances.
"We have to be solid at the back," added the Extremadura native. "We have to take advantages of the few occasions we'll have to score, and close the gap in quality.
"I'm settled at Leganes, I've just renewed and I'm a happy Pepinero.
"The importance of marking Sergio Ramos correctly at corners isn't lost on us."
The game kicks off at 21:30 CET from the Butarque with Los Blancos aiming to extend their lead over Barcelona at the summit of the table, the Catalans facing Sevilla in the earlier game on Wednesday evening.
