Tshifiwe 'Chief' Thidiela says though the stakes are so high in Saturday's Limpopo derby it will not cause any divisions in his family. Chief holds the position of team manager at relegation-threatened Magesi, while his father David Thidiela owns play-off contenders Black Leopards. "It's just unfortunate that the two teams have to meet under such situations," Chief tells KickOff.com. "It's true we need to get out of the relegation area and Leopards need to cement a position in the play-offs. "It's not as bad as people may think it is, this derby does not even divide the Thidiela family into two. We have a very supportive family where all the members of the family support both teams, and the wish is for Magesi to avoid relegation and Black Leopards to return to the premier division and at this stage the only way for Leopards to get promoted is for them to first qualify for the promotional play-offs.

"Leopards is full of experience, even if they lose to us, I believe they have enough quality and ability to still get promotion. This will be their third play-offs in the past four seasons, and I think 'Lidoda Duvha' [The day will come] should now be 'Loswika Duvha' [The day has come]." Chief insists Magesi are treating the contest like a cup final. "For us we desperately need points to ensure our survival and with our remaining three matches, it's against teams that are eyeing the play-offs and have been having great runs lately in Leopards, Real Kings and Mbombela. So we need to take each match like a cup final. Leopards are our big brothers, we cannot give them a big hiding, however we are hopeful for the three points.

"It will be a very interesting derby, looking at the fact that there are a lot of former Leopards personnel at Magesi: coach [Shepherd] Murape, goalkeeper Azwinndini Maphaha, defender Thabo Mokgalushi, midfielder Karabo Tshepe, strikers Joseph Lekata and Thembisani Nevhulamba." Contrary to what Chief says about the Limpopo derby not dividing his family, his father has a different view. "That's right it does divide the family," he says laughing. "That's why I'm saying I can't comment about this match, because both teams are desperately in need of Saturday's three points. I think Berry Ramunenyiwa [club spokesperson] might be the best person to give a comment though." According to the Leopards boss, tickets for the match cost R20 for adults and entrance is free for children.
