Manchester United seal second place as De Gea wins golden glove in West Ham draw

2 weeks from now  Raphael   Sport News

Manchester United will finish the English Premier League in second spot after playing out a 0-0 draw away to West Ham on Thursday. The draw extends Jose Mourinho’s unbeaten streak against David Moyes to 11 games.

Manchester United dominated the first half, creating several chances with Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw, Jesse Lingard and Alexis Sanches all forcing saves from goalkeeper Adrian San Miguel. West Ham were content to sit back and strike on the counter-attack, with their forward Marko Arnautovic isolated in attack.

The second half picked up precisely where the first had left off with United in search of an opener. Paul Pogba went closest when he rose up to glance an Antonio Valencia cross but his effort flashed narrowly wide.

David Moyes reacted by bringing in on Andy Carroll for the final 20 minutes while Mourinho responded by throwing Marcus Rashford on for Lingard a short while later. Both players didn’t do enough to earn their side a win as the game ended goalless.

United, second in the table, now have 78 points from 37 games, four points better off than third-placed Tottenham, while West Ham are safe with 39 poinst from the same number of games. The goalless result also meant David De Gea has won the Golden Glove award for the most clean sheets in the campaign with 18.
