France and Manchester United forward Anthony Martial is set to be fined 202,000 euros (180,000 pounds) by his club after failing to return to Manchester United’s pre-season tour in the USA.
Although the former AS Monaco striker was given permission to leave their camp in US to travel to his native country for the birth of his second son, he wasn't supposed to miss the Red Devils' last two friendly games according to reports gathered from the club’s officials.
According to Daily Mirror, United will sanction the player with an amount equivalent to two weeks' wages as he hasn't reported back for seven days.
"Martial has the baby and after the baby is born - beautiful baby, full of health, thank God - he should be here and he's not here," Jose Mourinho told the press conference after his team's 4-1 thrashing by Liverpool.
Yesterday, Martial took to twitter to release a statement in order to justify his reason behind not reporting back on time. As he claimed that his partner had suffered complications in the birthing process, and that he will be back in Lancashire on today.
"Thank you all for your messages. My little Swan is fine, for the mother it was more difficult but Thank God she is better now. Sorry but my family will always go before everything," he tweeted. "Back tomorrow in Manchester."
The France international fails to make the squad of the victorious les blues side at the World Cup in Russia and as reported by the English media the player's future remains unclear, as the club contemplate showing him the exit door.
