Victor Lindelof's move from Benfica to Manchester United has increased the Premier League club's recent spending on defenders even further, with the Red Devils having now forked out 161 million euros over the past four seasons on improving their back line.
Daley Blind, Luke Shaw and Marcos Rojo all arrived three years ago to usher in the Louis van Gaal era, before Matteo Darmian and Eric Bailly arrived at Old Trafford in the summers of 2015 and 2016 respectively.
That means that United have purchased at least one defender in each of the past four summer transfer windows.
To date, the most expensive signing has been Bailly, although he may also go down as the one to have had the biggest impact since swapping the yellow of Villarreal for the red of Manchester United last year.
