Since joining Chelsea, Marcos Alonso has been unstoppable, already equalising his best scoring record at Fiorentina last season, and so it'll come as little surprise that he is dreaming to be called up for the Spanish national team.
The confidence that coach Antonio Conte put in him has helped the 26-year-old to secure his place as the first-choice left wing-back, quickly picking up 16 appearances in the Premier League.
Indeed, the Spaniard played 15 times as a starter and has only been replaced once, in September against Arsenal.
Bringing strength in both defence and attack, Marcos Alonso combined for two assists and scored two goals against Leicester City, and he also had one in the clash with Everton in November.
Seeing his confidence on the pitch, the Spaniard has never hidden his desire to be called up by Spain coach Julen Lopetegui.
Indeed, during his time in Florence he already expressed his hopes to be part of his national team.
"I am happy for Julen. He made me debut in Real Madrid Castilla when I was 15. My aim is to do my best with Fiorentina, and to get the call," he confessed.
Despite Nacho Monreal and Escudero being summoned in the last list, Marcos Alonso is now a real competitor for the role and his signing with the London club made his dream come closer.
However, Lopotegui has a lot of time to mull things over until March, when Spain will have to face Israel for the World Cup qualifications (Gijon, March 24) and a friendly against France (Paris, March 28).
