Manchester United got back to winning ways as a brace from Romelu Lukaku gave them a deserving 2-0 win away from home against Burnley at Turf Moor.
Mourinho’s men has suffered from start of the season poor performance with a back to back loss against Brighton and Tottenham Hotspur but got a vital three points away from home.
The talking point of the game was when Manchester United youngster Marcus Rashford was sent off in the game after a brawl with Phil Bardsley.
The incident sparked an ugly melee, before referee Jon Moss booked Bardsley and showed Rashford a straight red card, just 10 minutes after coming on as a substitute.
Manager Jose Mourinho said that Rashford was a “naive boy”, for reacting angrily to a challenge from Phil Bardsley and thrusting his forehead into the former United defender’s face.
The youngster was quick to apologies to the fans and his teammates for his actions.
“Emotions got the better of me. I shouldn’t have reacted like that. Sorry to everyone at the club and all the fans,” Rashford tweeted.
The 20-year-old England international now faces an automatic three-match ban for violent conduct, but Mourinho claimed that Bardsley’s clever handling of the situation also played a part.
