Real Madrid new boy Mariano Diaz finally got to make his debut for Real Madrid which come in the Champions League match against Italian giants AS Roma.
The Real Madrid new number took the chance given to him so well as he got a dream debut which comes with a goal after 20 minutes of play.
Julen Lopetegui was not in a rush to play the striker as he took time to study him since his return to the Spanish capital, the Spanish striker revealed what Lopetegui told him before he came on in the game.
"He told me to press, not to lose the ball and to help my teammates," he added. "He told me just to keep doing what I have been in training.
"At Real Madrid we all have a big responsibility, we have to face the Champions League with great enthusiasm."
The former Lyon striker said after the game that he would cherish a chance if being called up by new Spanish National team coach Luis Enrique.
"I would love a call from Luis Enrique, I hope I can be in the national team," he explained in his post-match interview. "I'm very happy for the goal and would like to thank my teammates.
"Marcelo's pass made sure that I was able to debut in this wonderful way."
Mariano’s role remains unclear after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer, the striker might just play from the flanks just like Cristiano but Mariano is not bothered about his position and he his only concerned about helping Madrid win the Champions league once again.
"The personal goal for me is to help the team, winning the Champions League would be great," he said. "I've always wanted to return here so I'm very grateful for this chance."
Mariano had left for Lyon in the summer of 2017, before an impressive season saw him re-signed.
