Golden Boy awards

Italian newspaper Tuttosport release the list for this year's golden boy award which is spearheaded by the 2017 winner Kylian Mbappe. This award is given to the player with the best performance under the age 21 and plies his trade in Europe.

Since its inception, Golden boy awards have had 15 previous winners going from Rafael van der Vaart through Lionel Messi, Wayne Rooney, Paul Pogba, Raheem Sterling, Anthony Martial, Renato Sanches to mention a few.

European media come together to vote for their choices, including the Corriere dello Sport, Gazzetta dello Sport, Marca, L’Equipe, Bild, Times, Blick, De Telegraaf, A Bola, Sport-Express, Aftonbladet and SportDay.

A list of 100 under-21 players all across European clubs, Kylian Mbappe who happens to win the 2017 edition is on the list as the favourite to retain the award and go on to set a record as the player to win it not only twice but also back to back, on the list also is Milan forward Patrick Cutrone, Atalanta striker Musa Barrow, new Genoa buy Lorenzo Callegari, Inter winger Yann Karamoh, Roma purchase Justin Kluivert, Cagliari’s North Korean star Kwang-Song Han and Italian Pietro Pellegri.
