Having grown up in the suburbs of Paris, Kylian Mbappe has stated how his desire to come back to his home city was the main factor in leaving Monaco for Paris Saint-Germain.
In fact, the striker stated that he was keen to remain at his former club before mulling over the decision with family.
"Back in May, I was in the frame of mind that I would stay with Monaco; certain events changed my mind," Mbappe told the media at his unveiling.
"It was important not to leave the France. I spoke with my family and it was important to return to the city where I grew up. "It's a great pleasure to join one of the biggest clubs in the world."
Now vying with Neymar for a spot in the PSG line-up, Mbappe asserts that he can fit in around the Brazilian star, who he wasn't aware was joining before he first considered the move.
"I was interested in the club's sporting project before Neymar arrived, but having him is an advantage," said the Frenchman. "We all know the player that he is.
"I can play in any position in attack. I have a lot to learn from the players here in Paris. "I want to do even better than last season. I am driven by the desire to win everything."
