Messi misses out in Argentina squad to face Brazil

Lionel Messi was left frustrated after scoring only one goal, and missing a penalty, at the FIFA World Cup in Russia earlier this year and were dumped out of the competition in the second round after they were beaten 4-3 by France. After the tournament, the likes of Lucas Biglia and Javier Mascherano retired from international football.
Jorge Sampaoli was sacked after the tournament and Lionel Scaloni is in charge until the end of the year before handing the team to a successor, with Messi's international future still uncertain.
Argentina will play against friendly matches against Iraq and Brazil next month and the interim manager have decided to leave out Barcelona captain Lionel Messi alongside prolific Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero and Paris Saint-Germain winger Angel Di Maria were also rested for the matches in Saudi Arabia, with Scaloni keen to test new players for the La Albiceleste.
Three players could make their debuts in those games. Defender Juan Foyth (Tottenham)and also midfielders Rodrigo De Paul (Udinese) and Roberto Pereyra (Watford) were all called up for the first time on Friday.
