Mission Impossible II

1 week ago  Raphael   Sport News

So soon after the dramatic 6-5 aggregate win over Paris Saint-Germain have Barcelona found themselves having to do it all over again, as they seek passage to the Champions League semi-finals from three goals down against Juventus.
Naturally, their incredible comeback against Les Parisiens in the last round serves as fervent inspiration for a repeat performance, but plenty has changed since then.
Most notably, the state of the dressing room is in a bad way after Juve's 3-0 win in Turin and remains tense going into Wednesday's tie.
Such problems were brewing after the Valentine's Day stuffing in Paris and yet Luis Enrique's shock departure announcement a few days later brought everyone back on board, aided by convincing wins over the likes of Sevilla.
Parallel turnarounds have not occurred in the eight days between the two legs of the quarter-final, and although the Italians hold a lesser 3-0 advantage, there is a sense that they are more capable of finally knocking out Barcelona.
Furthermore, defensive issues preside among the Azulgrana and Luis Enrique has already accepted that the Bianconeri will score on Wednesday night, a feat which will demand even more goals from the hosts.
Barcelona are more adept at these situations following their PSG triumph, but their opposition will have learned from their predecessor's misgivings, creating no doubt that this is Mission Impossible v2.0.
