Mo' Salah and Sean Dyche clinch March awards

7 months ago  Raphael   Sport News

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has been named Premier League Player of the Month for March, becoming the first player to win the award three times in one season after his previous wins in November and February.

Salah is enjoying a record-breaking debut season, having scored 39 goals in all competitions, and one more goal will make him the first Liverpool player since Ian Rush in 1986-87 to reach the 40-goal mark.

He was on target in both legs of the Champions League quarterfinal win over Manchester City that set up a semifinal showdown with Serie A club Roma and has scored 29 league goals.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche was named the manager of the month for the first time after leading his side to three straight victories in March. Dyche’s men boasted a 100 per cent record by claiming successive wins over Everton, West Ham and West Brom.

The Clarets started March by ending an 11-match winless run with a 2-1 success against Sam Allardyce’s side at Turf Moor before going on to secure maximum points at West Ham and West Brom to cap off a memorable month.

Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy added another trophy to his collection after he was awarded the Premier League ‘s goal of the month award. The England striker scored an impressive first-time volley in the 4-1 win away to West Brom on March 10. A long pass over the top from team-mate Riyad Mahrez inside his own half arched over Vardy’s head and he volleyed home with his left foot.

The 31-year-old’s strike was one of eight nominated for the award, along with team-mate Mahrez, Manchester City pair Bernardo Silva and Gabriel Jesus, Manchester United duo Nemanja Matic and Marcus Rashford.

Burnley striker Ashley Barnes and Bournemouth’s Junior Stanislas were also among the nominees.
