After having bragging rights over their archrivals Real Madrid, more positive news has hit Barcelona training camp as Samuel Umtiti is beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
The French footballer has been out for a month due to problems in his knee that caused him severe pain, but now he's on the way to a return, even if it's not immediately.
He was at training on Monday, alone, but will join the group within a week or so. His pain has subsided considerably and it's planned that if the evolution continues as before, Umtiti will be available for selection after the next international break in November.
Beforehand it will be very difficult because there are less than two weeks left until the match against Betis, which is the last one to be played before the break. The next match after that is against Atletico Madrid on Saturday, November 24.
Umtiti has had knee problems before, during last season and in fact, also in the World Cup. With it not subsiding, the player decided with the medical services of the club that the best thing was to stop.
If an improvement didn't occur, there was the likelihood of an operation, which has still not been ruled out, although it is very unlikely.
Umtiti's injury along with Vermaelen's has seen Clement Lenglet become a permanent starter, and he's responded with some excellent performances.
