Moroka Swallows relegate from the ABC Motsepe League

Moroka Swallows minority shareholder Charles Makhubo says they are ready to help the club bounce back to top-flight football after their relegation was confirmed on Saturday. Swallows have officially suffered their third straight relegation, falling from the ABC Motsepe League into South Africa’s amateur fourth tier, following their 2-1 loss to Orange Vaal Professionals this weekend. This, after only spending one season in the ABC Motsepe League.

Makhubo, who spoke on his position as a minority shareholder, says the club needs people who have the vision to turn around strategy and revive the fortunes of Moroka Swallows, who fives years ago lifted the MTN8 trophy and finished second in the Absa Premiership. "We are still minority shareholders. We never sold our shares,” Makhubo tells KickOff.com. "Yes, I can confirm that the club has been relegated. It’s very sad to see the team being relegated again.

"This is very sad for everyone associated with this big brand. However, we cannot fold our hands and see the club dying. We need to do something. I believe there is a chance for the club to bounce back. “There are people that are ready to help the club return back to its old status and come with a turn-around strategy. It’s possible. Highlands Park have done it and Umthatha Bucks are back in National First Division,” he adds.
