At the press conference after guiding his team to a 2-1 victory against Real Madrid in the International Champions Cup in Miami, Mourinho claimed he knew as far back as in 2010 that Julen Lopetegui will end up at Los Blancos at some point in his career.

The pair showed some friendly gesture as they embrace each other before the game and after the game was over.

"When I trained Inter I knew that he would go to Real Madrid," the Portuguese said to reporters.

"And that was in 2010!"

The game result ended in favour of the Red devils but Mourinho claimed the win was not important.

"We played a good game with a lot of young guys and against a good Real Madrid, the result is not important because there were a lot of casualties," he continued.

"Madrid lacked important players like Varane, Modric, Marcelo... It would be important in the Champions League, but not today."

The match gave Mourinho a chance to throw in some young players and they acquitted themselves well.

"Our young players are 16, 17 and 18 years old, not like Real Madrid youths," he added.

"Jimmy Garner is 16 and he can go home and say he has played against Los Blancos."
