On Tuesday Paul Pogba was stripped of Manchester United captaincy duties after telling Jose Mourinho he wants to leave. A video footage emerged from Carrington training ground showing the duo in a verbal exchange.
It's a dig from the Portuguese manager which suggests the Frenchman is not a captain material at Manchester United. Jose Mourinho is under huge pressure at Old Trafford because of United's latest results and isn't willing to entertain the player's attitude any longer.
Paul Pogba had criticised the tactical approach of the coach in the game against Wolves that ended with a 1-1 draw.
"At Old Trafford, we would always have to attack, attack and attack," he'd said. "But at 1-0 we backed down to defend and didn't show our true level again. "I think we have more alternatives to show on the field."
Mourinho's punishment was swift and brutal, especially as Pogba was later seen on social networks laughing while United was eliminated from the Carabao Cup by Derby.
After sources told that on Wednesday that several of United’s senior players are “angry and frustrated” with Jose Mourinho, and footage emerged of a tense training-ground exchange between Pogba and the manager, an Old Trafford exit for the France international could be more likely.
"You are the anti-captain," he said directly to Pogba. "And you won't wear the armband whilst working with me again."
The coach would explain the reasons for this decision in a subsequent press conference.
"Pogba doesn't represent what a captain should convey at United, and the club is above anyone," Mourinho said to reporters.
There is also the desire on the players' part to leave Manchester United. Barcelona have shown interest but Juve are also bidding for him.
Manchester United resume premier league actions this weekend against West Ham United, Paul Pogba should be back in the squad but the question is if the former Chelsea manager will start the Frenchman for the Red Devils.
