Manchester United were happy to hold Sevilla to a goalless draw at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in their Champions League last 16 first leg, as coach Jose Mourinho showed after the match.
The coach made it clear that he felt it was a deserved draw.
"The game was even, the stats are what they are," he said in his evaluations of the game"I feel the result reflects how the game was."
It means that United have work to do in the second leg, but the former Real Madrid man believes that his side can pull it off on home turf.
"At Old Trafford if we draw with goals we are out, if we win by any result we are through," he added. "Is that difficult? Yes, but it is a match in our house and I believe that Old Trafford misses a big European night.
"Of course last season we had quarter-finals, semi-finals, but it was in the Europa League, which has a different meaning.
"The year before we didn't play in the Champions League so I think Old Trafford misses this and can create a similar atmosphere to what we had here today and push us through a difficult match."We just need to win."
He did have praise for one Sevilla player in particular as he was impressed by Ever Banega.
"It was important to stop him to play as their playmaker," he said of Scott McTominay's role of quickly closing him down. "He was always comfortable, simple, saving in possession. "I think he was brilliant."
The coach was also questioned on his decision to leave out Paul Pogba, instead starting youngster McTominay for a crucial game.
"If I were one of you I would ask about McTominay and how he had a great game, and I would tell you that yes, he was very mature," he explained."My players have defended well."We didn't need to count on a professional like Pogba. "I know what to ask of the team."
The second leg of this tie will take place on March 13.
