Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar made a goal-scoring return after a long injury layoff as he netted in Brazil’s 2-0 win against Nigeria’s Group D World Cup opponents Croatia in Sunday’s friendly at Anfield. Neymar, who had been out injured since breaking his foot in February, was introduced at the start of the second half.
On parade for Croatia were stars like Luka Modric of Real Madrid, Ivan Rakitic of Barcelona, Dejan Lovren of Liverpool and Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic.
Neymar opened the scoring in the 69th minute to put Brazil 1-0 ahead after tricking two Croatia defenders before spearing a shot into the top corner. Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino wrapped the game up with a 93rd minute goal.

Brazil have now won three of their four encounters against Croatia, drawing one. The defeat was Croatia’s second in their last three friendly games (won one) ahead of the FIFA World Cup.
Croatia’s next friendly game is against World Cup-bound Senegal at home on Friday. They will open their 2018 World Cup campaign against Nigeria on June 16 in Group D.
