NICE CAPTAIN SET TO LEAVE CLUB AFTER CONTRACT EXPIRES

2 days from now  tobi   Sport News

Nice captain Paul Baysse has announced he will leave the Ligue 1 outfit at the end of the season when his contract expires. The 28-year-old has spent the last two seasons at Nice after joining from Saint-Etienne in the summer of 2015. Baysse has spent most of that time as captain but has made the decision to look for a new challenge when his contract expires in the summer after feeling unwanted by the club. “My situation is as it is,” Get French Football quote Baysse as telling reporters after their 2-1 defeat to Marseille on Sunday night. “I did not feel like the Nice representatives wanted to continue with me, that is football.

“I will work 100% right until the end. I prioritised Nice, I will move on to something else, I am open to all projects. The ball is round, I want to make the most of this time with my friends, with the club. Because I respect everyone, I will give my absolute all right until the end.” Baysse has only started 19 league matches for a Nice side that had been surprise contenders for the Ligue 1 title this season until defeat away to Marseille at the weekend. Only Baysse’s defensive partner, Dante, has a better pass success rate in Ligue 1 for Nice this season than the Frenchman (90.9%). Not only that, but only Ricardo Pereira (7.38) and Wylan Cyprien (7.27) have higher WhoScored ratings for Nice in Ligue 1 this season than Baysse (7.25).
