After rarely having featured for the first-team since his transfer to Real Madrid, youngster Martin Odegaard is close to completing a loan deal to join Eredivise outfit Heerenveen.
The Castilla star was in the Netherlands the day after Christmas to finalise the small details of the move, that is set to be made official very soon.
Both the player and Real have agreed that a temporary switch is the best move at this time for the 18-year-old's development.
The Dutch top flight is considered an ideal environment in which to hone his talents while also playing for a club who are hopeful of fighting for a European berth.
Heerenveen currently occupy fourth spot in the Eredivisie, a position that would see them into next season's Europa League.
