It hasn't exactly been plain sailing for Martin Odegaard since he joined Real Madrid, yet he hopes to find his form with a loan spell at Heerenveen where he made his debut on Saturday.
The Dutch club have been known to develop talents over the years and it is hoped the Eredivisie will prove to be a calm environment for the youngster who appears to have fallen foul of Zinedine Zidane in the Spanish capital.
Odegaard's debut came in a 2-0 victory over ADO Den Haag, Iranian Reza Ghoochannejhad netting a brace to seal all three points.
A loan agreement was made official on Tuesday and there is a feeling that coach Jurgen Streppel needs to take time to appraise both the fitness and talents of Odegaard before he makes a full impact in the team.
As a result, Odegaard started on the bench and only came onto the pitch in second half injury time, however he remains positive that he will be afforded the first-team football he so desperately craves whilst with De Superfriezen.
The Norwegian will have to wait for his chance and thankfully for him he will have a full week of training with his new teammates to adjust ahead of next Sunday's clash with PSV Eindhoven.
This is the match that has been marked in the calendar as one where Odegaard could make his first starting appearance and you can be sure those in Madrid will be keeping a close eye on his progress.
