Chelsea young star, Jacob Maddox left the club for Tranmere on a season long loan. The 20-year-old Maddox played last season on loan at Cheltenham Town. Maddox, who joined Chelsea as a 14-year old, won back-to-back FA Youth Cups as well as the UEFA Youth League during his time playing for the club’s Academy teams.
A statement on the club’s official website said, “Jacob Maddox has today joined Tranmere Rovers on loan for the 2019/20 season. The midfielder, 20, spent last season in League Two at Cheltenham Town, where he made 44 appearances. In January.
“Maddox joined Chelsea as a 14-year old and won back-to-back FA Youth Cups as well as the UEFA Youth League during his time playing for our Academy teams. On the international stage, he picked up a winner’s medal with England at the Under-19 European Championship in 2017.
“Tranmere have achieved successive promotions to return to the third tier of English football for the first time since 2014. They beat Newport County in the play-off final in May with a last-minute Wembley winner.”
