Less than two months after hiring him, Osasuna have decided to relieve Joaquin Caparros of his duties as first team coach.
The veteran, who failed to collect a single LaLiga point in five matches, will be replaced by Peter Vasiljevic, Los Rojillos' current sporting director.
Confirmed by Osasuna's official website, the board took the decision to terminate Caparros' contract during a meeting held on Thursday morning while the players were practising at the Tajonar training grounds.
Vasiljevic, who spent two seasons of his playing career in Pamplona, is responsible for making 11 signings during the summer transfer window.
In their return to the top flight after a brief two-year stint in Segunda Division, the Serbian engineered a squad overhaul, but the results have been underwhelming under both Enrique Martin and Caparros.
Osasuna are sitting in last place with only seven points through 16 LaLiga fixtures, while they are all but out of contention in Copa del Rey after losing 3-0 at home against Eibar.
