Pitso Mosimane laments Mamelodi Sundowns' poor fortunes in front of goal

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has bemoaned his side's continued misfortune in front of goal after they were eliminated from the Nedbank Cup. Sundowns were sent packing from the Nedbank Cup Last 16 following a 1-0 defeat at home to Golden Arrows at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday. The result stretches their winless run to five consecutive games without a victory, whilst they have now scored just two goals in their last five outings. Mosimane, though, believes The Brazilians have been consistently dominating over their opposition, but feels misfortune and good goalkeeping have lead to their undoing. "It's a duplicate of the game against Bloemfontein Celtic [in midweek] – we knew about it, we were going to be caught on the counter," Mosimane told SuperSport TV after the final whistle. "Again today the goalkeeper wins man of the match; against Celtic [the goalkeeper was] man of the match. I think Itu [Khune] was man of the match, maybe, I don't know who was man of the match against Chiefs."

Mosimane opted to look on the bright side of their cup exit, as he now turns focus to their Absa Premiership and CAF Champions League title defences. "We're trying, it's not good enough, but we'll get there. Some things happen for a reason so you've got to look on the positive side," he added. "Maybe it's okay to leave the Nedbank and focus on the Champions League and the league because it's unbelievable with the number of games and injuries [we've had]. "But I think the team that payed [today] really represented us well." He continued: "We're just not lucky to score, sometimes maybe we apply the wrong technique with passing and shooting, instead of shooting we pass.”And it's anxiety. Players are human beings, this happens, but we've been in control of all the games from [the one against] Cape Town City, we've been in control. "We are in control everytime but unfortunately we are not scoring any goals."
