Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says he does not cloud his thoughts with fears over his job as the Brazilians face the prospect of finishing the domestic season without a trophy. Having already been knocked out of the MTN8, Telkom Knockout and Nedbank Cup, the league remains the only PSL trophy available to Bafana Ba Style, who are three points behind leaders Bidvest Wits with three games to go and next host Baroka at Lucas Moripe Stadium tomorrow. However, with the CAF Champions League and CAF Super Cup titles under Mosimane’s belt, the former Bafana Bafana coach is not overly concerned at their shortcomings on the South African front, given their conquest of the African continent.  “I can’t speak on behalf of Sundowns [management on] how they feel about me and [I] can’t worry about looking over my shoulder because once you do that as a coach you are in trouble,” Mosimane said.

Mosimane also said that a lot of coaches in the league are living on the edge. The latest victim to be fired was Gordon Igesund, who was sacked by Highlands Park after he failed to lift them off the foot of the table. Chippa United coach Dan Malesela was put on 'special leave' by club chairman Siviwe “Chippa” Mpengesi after fears of being relegated, with the Port Elizabeth-based side just one point clear of the bottom two.  “All the coaches are on the edge, remember? Everybody is on the edge, you’ll never know what is going to happen to you, you know?” Mosimane admitted that, domestically, Sundowns haven’t done well, but internationally they’ve done wonders. “[Yes], maybe [in the] domestic cups we didn’t win anything at the moment. If we don’t win the league… But rather than winning the PSL and winning the Nedbank [Cup] and you say you got a double, I’ll rather win this year’s [CAF] Champions League and the [CAF] Super Cup… I’m happy. “So for me, domestically, yes, [Sundowns] might win nothing, but internationally, [we] can go to the [Fifa Club] World Cup in December, and for me, that’s history for Sundowns. History. “So I would not worry that much and keep looking over my shoulder. The team [Sundowns management] is there to assess my performance. I will do the best I can [and] I take inspiration from big coaches like Pep Guardiola. He might win nothing [this year] but he is Pep Guardiola, remember? “Life; it’s not about what you win every year. You can’t win everything every year otherwise I would not be at Mamelodi Sundowns, maybe I would be overseas, so let me stay here.”
