In an interview with FIFA.com, Paul Pogba has spoken of how Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann felt frustrated at the club when he first joined from Real Sociedad.
The French-born attacker had been at La Real from the age of 13 and a move to Los Rojiblancos was supposed to bring Griezmann to a higher level, but it was not an easy start for the 25-year-old.
"I am very proud of him - I know what happened when he first arrived at Atletico Madrid; the first year saw him not play that much, spending time on the bench, and he spoke to me and said that he was frustrated," Pogba said in his interview.
"But he continued to work tirelessly and is now one of the three nominations for the Ballon d'Or.
"I'm really happy for him, and I'm especially happy that a French player is doing so well."
When asked about what are the most outstanding qualities about Griezmann, Pogba was very gracious.
"He is very clever and plays with his body, despite his lack of size or strength, but he has great speed and agility, and he can score goals," he continued.
"All of which makes Griezmann the player he is today.
"He is one of the funniest guys I've met and played with, he always has fun in training - he works a lot, but with gusto and joy
"Sometimes he'll go in goal and make some impressive saves, or sometimes he'll imitate Didier Drogba on the ball."
Pogba was also asked about whether he thinks the dominance of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi will end.
"When someone overtakes them on the pitch and also off of it, then their supremacy will end; but I don't know when that will happen because both are still at the highest level," he followed on.
"When I see Cristiano and Messi, I really want to improve to play like them.
"There are people who can do it. There is, for example, Zlatan [Ibrahimovic] at Manchester United - he's 35 years old, but by the way he is playing and is scoring goals, he could continue for 10 years at the highest level.
"[Eden] Hazard, Neymar, [Luis] Suarez are also doing a great job and are scoring goals."
