Polokwane City midfielder Jabulani Maluleke feels Sunday afternoon’s Limpopo derby draw was a fair result. Neither Rise and Shine nor Baroka FC could break the deadlock over the 90 minutes with the spoils shared at the final whistle between the two provincial rivals, a result which City’s Maluleke was content with. “It was a game of two halves,” he told SuperSportTV after the game. “We had chances but we couldn’t convert. I think it was a fair result.” Maluleke was kept quiet in the second half after a tactical change made by his opponents, yet he was still pleased with his display on the day.
“In the second half they made a change – they took off the defensive midfielder and put on someone who could go with me, so it was tough to move around,” he said. “But we still managed to create chances despite the tight marking.” City had a shout for a penalty waved away during the game, yet Maluleke was honest in admitting the referee made the right call. “The referee knows his job, but I don’t think it was a penalty,” he said. The result leaves Luc Eymael’s charges in seventh spot on the log, while Baroka remain bottom, three points behind Highlands Park.
