The quarter-finalists in the Olympic Five-a-side Football Championship Season-2 have emerged, Completesportsnigeria.com reports. The teams that will do battle in the last eight of the competition were decided in Friday's National Round of 16 Qualifiers staged inside Campos Mini Stadium, Lagos. Sixteen teams were drawn in four groups of four teams each, with the eight quarter-finalists emerging from the groups. The eight teams that made it out of the groups are defending champions De Royals of Lagos, Ace FC of Kaduna, FEM Stars of Lagos, Victorious Gladiators of Rivers, Oreon and Leon of Lagos. Others are Friends United of Lagos, G Boys of Lagos and Moving Train of Lagos.
In the quarter-final pairings, Group A winners Ace FC will face G Boys who were second in Group B. Group C winners Oreon Leon will do battle against Friends United who were runners-up in Group D. FEM Stars who came second in Group A will slug it out with Group B winners De Royals. Group C second placed team, Victorious Gladiators, will go head-to-head with Moving Train who topped Group D. The quarter- final games will hold on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the Campos Mini Stadium, Lagos. Also, the semi-finals and final will take place on Saturday at the same venue.
Meanwhile, the winner of the Olympic Five-a-side Football Championship Season 2 will get one million naira and a trophy. The runners-up will go home with #500,000, while the third placed team will be rewarded with #300,000. The Most Valuable Player will also walk away with #300,000. Over 300 teams from across Nigeria took part in this year's Olympic Five-A-Aside Football Championship Season-2.
