Real Madrid and Chelsea close in on Hazard, Kovacic deal

6 months ago  Raphael   Sport News

Eden Hazard and Mateo Kovacic's moves between Real Madrid and Chelsea are close to completion, in what will be two separate transfers. Kovacic's deal won't be affected by the sanction on Chelsea, which prevents them from registering new players, as he has been at the club since the summer of 2018 and registered since then.
Any announcement of Hazard's move was delayed by the Blues while they were still pushing to qualify for next season's Champions League, which they achieved on Sunday as Hazard signed off on his final Premier League appearance at Stamford Bridge.
Their season isn't over yet, though, as they will take on Eintracht Frankfurt in the second leg of their Europa League semi-final on Thursday evening, with scores locked at 1-1. The No.10, then, has the chance to bid farewell to Stamford Bridge in style by sending Chelsea to another European final.
The final stretch
Hazard and Madrid have agreed on terms for some time now, but the two clubs are edging ever closer to finalising terms. Chelsea wanted 140 million euros, but Los Blancos have been reluctant.
It's likely that the final figure will be above 100 million euros, which will make him the club's most expensive signing ahead of Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo, despite his contract having just one more year to run in London.
