According to reports on L'Equipe, Spanish gaints Barcelona and Real Madrid have been put on alert after French Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain are prepared to offload star man Neymar this summer if they receive a substantial offer. The La Parisiens are willing to part ways with their record signing for the right price.
The Brazil international is reportedly the subject of interest from former club Barcelona and La Liga rivals Real Madrid, but either side would have to shell out more than the €222 million (£198m/$249m) paid by PSG in 2017 if they really want the player back in La Liga. Neymar was ruled out of the Copa America by an ankle injury.
The news comes in the wake of PSG president Nasser al-Khelaifi's statement that he will no longer stand for any 'celebrity behaviour' from the club's players. With Neymar's teammate Kylian Mbappe also linked with a move to Real Madrid.
“I do not want to have any celebrity behaviour anymore. “Players will have to assume their responsibilities even more than before. “It must be completely different. They will have to do more, work more.
“They are not here to please themselves. If they do not agree, the doors are open. Ciao!”
Al-Khelaifi didn't stop there as he continue by saying he has handed control of all sporting activities and decisions to Leonardo amid reports Neymar is for sale and Mbappe's constant link to Los Blancos.
"I realised that changes were essential, otherwise we were going nowhere," Al-Khelaifi said of the decision to reappoint Leonardo, who was PSG's sporting director between 2011 and 2013.
"In two minutes the case was settled between [me and Leonardo]. He will have all the sporting powers. Leo is my guy. He is incredible. I have total confidence in him. His natural authority will do good for everyone, especially the players."
The former AC Milan coach originally held the sporting director role from 2011 to 2013 and also spent time as a PSG player during the mid ‘90s, with the Brazilian attacking midfielder making 46 appearances for the club and scoring 10 goals.
PSG will be looking to bounce back from last season downfall even thought they won the league but are not satisfied with the fact that they couldn't dominate their domestic league and the European challenge was also cut short. Thomas Tuchel's side retained their Ligue 1 crown last season but with Neymar again injured they lost in the last 16 of the Champions League, surrendering a first-leg lead against Manchester United. They also failed to defend their Coupe de la Ligue and Coupe de France titles, but Tuchel has been rewarded with a new contract.
