Real Madrid have beaten Leganes in every meeting since 1930

Leganes are more used to facing Real Madrid's periphery teams than the senior squad that travel to Estadio Butarque on Wednesday for only the eighth meeting between the sides, the first coming almost 90 years ago.
Across their seven encounters in league, cup, and friendlies; the LaLiga giants have claimed six wins to one draw as their southern neighbours haven't secured a positive result since 1930.
On that day, August 17, the sides finished tied at 4-4 with Real coming out on top a year later to the tune of an 8-3 scoreline - albeit in another friendly.
Their next meeting didn't come around for 66 years, although Los Blancos once again ran out winners in a non-competitive match as Clarence Seedorf wrapped up a 2-1 win.
The two capital clubs were then drawn together for an inaugural official outing, the 2003/04 Copa del Rey second round seeing Leganes hold Real to a 3-3 draw in normal time and yet Raul notched an extra-time winner at Estadio Butarque.
The rematch 12 months later saw Los Merengues stroll away with another tight victory, Fernando Morientes and Michael Owen replying to Dani Ruiz's goal for a 2-1 Copa triumph.
That brings the local rivals-of-sorts back to the present, where they met in LaLiga for the first time last November, Gareth Bale scoring twice at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu to reinforce the distance that remains between the clubs - although they'll start level once again at the first whistle on Wednesday night.
