Real Madrid Legends beat Arsenal Legends in a Corazon Match

5 months ago  Raphael   Sport News

Real Madrid's legends team enjoyed a victory on Sunday as Raul and Guti returned to the pitch to help beat an Arsenal legends selection.
The North London club were the visitors to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu for the ninth Corazon Classic match which is annually organised by the Real Madrid Foundation.
Los Blancos were well deserving of their victory and Luis Figo and Roberto Carlos also starred in the match.
Raul's opening goal was a move that has been seen by supporters countless times down the years, the Spanish forward converting a Carlos cross with a perfect header past David Seaman.
Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa made their respective debuts for the Los Blancos legends team, both having recently been playing for the club on a professional basis.
Luis Boa Morte was the star for Arsenal, scoring the equalising goal, although his forward partner, Nicolas Anelka, didn't have as much good fortune.
As ever, Figo delighted supporters with his array of clever flicks and touches, yet it was Guti who scored the second goal with a clever finish from close range.
The second half saw both teams make a number of changes with Fernando Morientes being introduced and Julio Baptista switching sides after having represented both during his professional career.
Raul was substituted with 15 minutes to go with Emilio Butragueno taking his place.
Whilst victories are always enjoyed in any walk of life, the purpose of the match was to raise funds for a good cause, and all the proceeds from the match will go towards further projects organised by the foundation.
