Reports: Real Madrid close in on Barcelona's top target

3 weeks from now  Raphael   Sport News

With Eden Hazard nearing ever closer to becoming a Real Madrid player, it looks like Los Blancos are closing in on another signing in the form of Ferland Mendy who is also a target for their eternal rivals Barcelona. The Spanish giants have been in contact with Lyon more frequently in the last few days, with the two clubs hoping to reach an agreement.
On Tuesday, the French side presented Juninho Pernambucano as their sporting director and Sylvinho as head coach as they move into a new era. They also hope to complete any sales quickly in order to find and recruit replacements.
According to L'Equipe, there is an offer on the table from Real Madrid, but Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas is also weighing up approaches from Barcelona and Juventus for Mendy.
The influence of Zinedine Zidane, who has expressed his desire for the left-back, and the good relationship between both presidents, would make it appear that Los Blancos have the advantage.
Lyon value Mendy, who they consider as a key member of the squad, at around 50 million euros, but Real Madrid have only offered 30m euros.
Madrid have sent their general director, Jose Angel Sanchez, and head of transfers, Juni Calafat, to France in an attempt to close the deal. Zidane expects Mendy to compete with Marcelo for the left-back spot, leaving Sergio Reguilon to follow Dani Carvajal's footsteps and gain more experience elsewhere with the hope of returning to the Santiago Bernabeu in the future.
