Revealed! The biggest winners from Chelsea's January transfer window

9 months ago  Raphael   Sport News

Maurizio Sarri will be particularly pleased with his January transfer window. Chelsea needed goals and they certainly have them now. Gonzalo Higuain has signed for the Blues on loan until the end of the season, allowing Alvaro Morata to head to Atletico Madrid on loan until the end of next season. Morata’s scoring record was not too bad, it was more so that he lacked the clinical nature needed in the Premier League, hence why Higuain has been brought in, having scored 36 goals in 35 Serie A games in his one season under Sarri in Naples.
Both parties will be pleased with the move and with that being said, let’s take a look at two other players who are winning as a result of their clubs transfer window. Chelsea had reportedly been set to sign Leandro Parades, but according to The Sun, he had his head turned by Paris Saint-Germain instead, meaning Sarri still does not have suitable cover for Jorginho. Or does he?
Ampadu may not have had his strongest game in that role against Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup of late, however, given more regular games in the role and he could prove to be fantastic there as he has all the required attributes.
If Sarri places such faith in him, gaining more opportunities than he has had, at just 18, would greatly benefit his development, meaning he is more than ready to step in for Jorginho when called upon.
Olivier Giroud
Having played second fiddle to Morata during for the majority of this season, his departure and Higuain’s arrival provides a fresh challenge for Giroud. He may not score as prominently as other strikers, but he certainly gets the best out of others, allowing them to play off him and use him to their benefit. If Higuain does not get off the mark soon, Giroud could be handed the striking role to add some competition for the role which could result in more game time and a greater role in the side than he has had previously.
