Bayern Munich announced the renewal of veteran winger’s contract, Franck Ribery has renewed his contract with the Bavarian giants for a further season, taking his stay in Munich to June 2019.
The 2017/18 season has seen a rejuvenated former Olympique Marseille winger, with Jupp Heynckes knowing exactly how to get the best out of the Frenchman.
"I'm very happy to be able to play for this great club for another year," he explained in an official announcement. "Munich has long been the home for both my family and I. "I'm very proud to wear the Bayern shirt for the new season."
Ribery's presence will be a boost for the squad ahead of the 2018/19 season, especially with new coach, Niko Kovac, likely to need to lean on experienced players in the early stages of his tenure. This renewal will sum up to a 12 years stay at the club.
Bayern Munich's director of football, Hasan Salihamidzic took a hands-on role in securing the veteran winger's future, and made clear how delighted the club was to have agreed a deal.
"We are so happy that we are going to keep Franck," he admitted. "He's enjoyed a fine season both in the Bundesliga and the Champions League. "He's proven once again that he's capable of outstanding things, and that's a great quality to have, he is one of those players who please the crowd."
