Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL Super 4 champions, Rivers United will be airlifted to Madrid, Spain tonight (Monday), December 12, where they are scheduled to set up pre-season camp, Completesportsnigeria.com reports. The Pride of Rivers crowned winners of the NPFL pre-season Super-4 tournament after a 1-0 defeat of Wikki Tourists on Sunday in their third but last match of the tournament to amasse six points while Rangers drew 1-1 with FC Ifeanyiubah to end the tournament on five points.
Rivers United finished the 2015/2016 Nigeria domestic top flight season on second positon behind winners Enugu Rangers. At a reception for the team, Rivers state governor, Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike promised they will conduct their pre-season at Real Madrid of Spain, himself being a fan of Real Madrid FC. Completesportsnigeria.com gathered they will fly out night (Monday) through the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, aboard Lufthansa Airline.
"We'll travel this (Monday Decembrer 12) night through Abuja," Mutiu Adepoju who is the Country Manager of La Liga Nigeria told Completesportsnigeria.com. "Lufthansa will fly the team," Adepoju, a former Nigeria international added. Adepoju will be on the delegation as La Liga Nigeria are providing the travel logistics, arrange friendly matches for them there and as well organise tour sites for the team while in Spain.
