Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr paid a visit to first choice goalkeeper Carl Ikeme at his English Championship club Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday, Completesportsnigeria.com reports. Rohr’s visit to Ikeme may not be unconnected with the Nigeria goalkeeper’s recent recovery from injury which forced him to miss the Super Eagles’ 3-1 win against Algeria in last month’s 2018 FIFA Wold Cup qualifier in Uyo. Ikeme returned to Wolves’ starting 11 last week Thursday in their 2-1 away win against Queens Park Rangers but was taken off in the 83rd minute for Andy Lonergan.
He has kept in 16 of Wolves’ 19 league games this current campaign. “Great evening and was good to get a visit from Nigeria Coach last night over dinner in Wolverhampton,” Ikeme wrote on his Twitter handle.
