For the fourth time in his career, Cristiano Ronaldo has been nominated as the 'Best Player of the Year' in the Globe Soccer Awards.
The announcement was made by Florentino Perez, who wasn't surprised that it had gone to his player.
"The winner is...Cristiano Ronaldo - of course," said Real Madrid's president.
After returning to Valdebebas following the Christmas holiday, the Portuguese was therefor unable to attend the awards gala in Dubai.
However, he did thank those who voted for him via a pre-recorded video which was played at the ceremony.
It caps an unforgettable 2016 for Ronaldo, who beat Lionel Messi, Gareth Bale, Antoine Griezmann, Jamie Vardy and Gonzalo Higuain to the gong.
" I hope Santos can win the Best Coach in the World prize"
