Roy Keane blasts Paul Pogba for his antics with Florentin Pogba against St Etienne

Roy Keane has blasted Paul Pogba for his antics with his brother Florentin during Manchester United’s 3-0 win over Saint Etienne in the Europa League. Paul and Florentin, who signed for ASSE back in 2012, faced each-other for the first time in their professional careers on Thursday night. The pair, clearly excited at the prospect of meeting head to head in Europe, were seen sharing jokes and embracing one another in the tunnel prior to the game. But Keane, speaking after the game, wasn’t too impressed. “Yeah. The boy, Pogba, he’s a bit of a free spirit, a bit of a character,” he said. “But I think it was a little bit over the top tonight – before the game and at half-time. “They’ve spoken more tonight than I have to any of my brothers [Denis, Pat and Johnson] in the last five years.

“It’s all a bit strange. I think when the game started they were focused on the game. But all this stuff before and after the game, a lot of nonsense – but that’s the modern player, I’m afraid.” I’m not exactly sure why Keane would prefer it if we adopted his way of interacting with family members. I mean, just picture Christmas in the Keane household: a plain, almost minimalist decor, all the youngsters gingerly opening their presents, and then there’s Roy – the only adult not drinking – sitting there, watching you. “Oh, firetruck – yeah, great. What’s a firetruck going to do? You think Sir Alex was just handing out firetrucks at United? Of course he f***ing wasn’t. Don’t start crying, Tom – don’t you dare start to cry.” The warm sensation known as ‘pleasure’ has never been experienced by Keane, and probably never will be. This is just how Keane operates. But that shouldn’t mean Paul can’t enjoy himself on what was a special family occasion.
