Ahead of a semi-final clash between the Bavarians and the Los Blancos, Bayern Munich CEO Karl Heinz Rummenigge has backed his side to knock out the holders and stop them from winning a third straight Champions League title .
"To beat Real Madrid, we need to win two games, but if there is a team that can do it, it is Bayern," insisted Rummenigge to reporters. "Our team has enormous individual quality and Jupp [Heynckes] has managed to put the pieces of the puzzle together in a wonderful way.
"There is no kind of envy or selfishness, just a great team spirit."
Notching a hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen in the DFB Pokal semi-finals, Thomas Muller described his team's desire and reflected on the 6-2 triumph.
"Our hunger is now greater," said Muller. "Apart from the league and the hearts of the fans who have seen this match, we haven't won anything. It was like an advert for German football."
