Sevilla to only allow Vitolo to leave for €40m

Although Sevilla are keen to keep the in-demand Vitolo during the summer, they will ensure his release clause is met if he is to leave the club.

Television revenue and the possibility of Champions League group stage football next season will aid the club's coffers but once again, it is a year when players may need to be sold in order to bring in fresh faces.

The two biggest assets in the squad at present are Steven N'Zonzi and Vitolo, both of whom have 40 million euro release clauses within their contracts.
At the moment, the club hierarchy's preference is to sell the Frenchman as they consider Vitolo to be a fundamental piece of the side who has become an important figure in the dressing room in recent seasons.
He is part of a strong core group at the club and as a result, Sevilla are determined to do all they can to keep hold of the winger, which is why they recently tied him down to a new deal until 2020.
As Radio MARCA Sevilla reported, the player will have offers to leave the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan during the summer with Atletico Madrid being the frontrunners for his signature, although they are awaiting the result of a Court of Arbitration for Sport decision on whether they will be able to register new players during the summer.

The other Spanish side interested in his signature are Barcelona as Robert Fernandez believes that the former Las Palmas man's versatility would help fill several shortcomings within the squad.
However, Barcelona consider Sevilla's 40 million euros demands excessive and Los Nervionenses refuse to budge or negotiate on that amount.
The club are adamant that they do not want to sell one of their most important players and only Vitolo's own determination to leave and force through a move could open the door to a departure, as long as an agreement is reached on the transfer fee.
Finally, Manchester City and Pep Guardiola have also enquired as to the situation surrounding the versatile winger.
They are currently attempting to renew the contract of Jesus Navas, which expires during the summer, who seems set to return to his former club.
Sevilla know that it is set to be a long summer with the Vitolo saga. Firstly, they want to complete some signings that are closing in on being finalised and convince the player that the project is worth staying for.
