South Africa drawn in Group D for FIFA U20 World Cup in South Korea

South Africa will face Japan, Italy and Uruguay in Group D at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup following the draw on Thursday. Amajita recently did the country proud following their deep run at the CAF Under-20 African Nations Cup in Zambia, where they made the third/fourth-place playoff, only to lose to Guinea to miss out on bronze. And while they finished without any medals, the result was still enough to earn South Africa their place in this year's U-20 World Cup finals.

That means Thabo Senong's men can look ahead to May's Korea Republic spectacular with confidence, knowing they are capable of impressing on the international stage. Amajita are set to face Japan in their tournament opener on May 21 at the Suwon World Cup Stadium, before they play Italy three days later and close off the group stage against Uruguay on May 27. The top two in each group as well as the four best third-placed teams qualify for the Round of 16, which kicks off on May 30.
