France were crowned the champions of the world after winning FIFA World cup in Russia back in July, with Chelsea’s forward Olivier Giroud being part of the squad that won the trophy for the French nation.
Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud admits prayer inspired him during France's triumphant World Cup campaign. Giroud, speaking with Le Parisian, was asked who he would thank for winning in Russia.
"Jesus Christ. He built me, helped me as a man and professional player, giving me confidence, perseverance and faith to never let go of anything. During this tournament, we had a good star above us. A guardian angel," said Giroud, who admits he prayed before the final.
"Like before every game. Each time, I asked the Lord a little more. Because it was the last step and I needed him even more. I have been heard."
